an ancient Roman port enclosed in the Venetian lagoon
Lio Piccolo faced directly on the sea and was a Roman harbor when Cavallino Treporti's coastline did not exist yet. It is now enclosed within the Venetian lagoon and together with it is considered World Heritage Site.
To visit Lio Piccolo means completely immerse into a unique environment. Go along a road in contact with the lagoon, its salt marshes, its vegetation, the typical fauna and you’ll have the opportunity to see the “valli da pesca”.
Starting from Marelaguna by car, or bike along the cycle path, you find Treporti at five kilometers and then follow the route to Lio Piccolo. If you have the opportunity, go up to the bell tower and admire the whole lagoon from a very impressive view.
